I've never touched a barbell — am I going to feel out of place?
No, you won't. Most women who train with Harley-Jane had never stepped into the weights area before their first session. Every programme starts exactly where you are — not where you think you should be — and every movement is taught from the ground up until it feels natural. You will not be the only beginner on the gym floor.
I'm postnatal — is it safe for me to lift weights?
Yes, when the programming is right. Harley-Jane is Pre & Post Natal certified and builds each return-to-training plan around your recovery stage, your core and pelvic floor, and any specifics from your birth. You rebuild strength without overloading a body that's already done the hardest work. Every session adapts to how you're feeling that week — not how you were feeling six weeks ago.
What if I've got an old injury or niggle I've been working around for years?
That's often exactly why people come to Harley-Jane. With injury prevention and rehab as a specialism, she screens every client before programming, swaps any movement that provokes pain for one that doesn't, and builds strength through the full ranges your body has been avoiding. The goal is to train through an old niggle, not around it for the rest of your life.
Will strength training make me look bulky?
No. Lifting weights builds lean strength, better posture, and a stronger shape — not bulk. Female physiology simply doesn't respond that way to training, even heavy training. What you'll actually notice is more energy, better sleep, better posture, and your clothes fitting the way you wanted them to.
How often will we train together?
Most clients train one-to-one once or twice a week, with a structured programme to follow on their own days. The weekly session keeps your technique sharp and your plan progressing; the solo sessions build the habit. Harley-Jane will recommend a frequency based on your goal, your schedule, and what's actually sustainable for you.
